Medical Alliance Insurance Company (MAIC)

Medical Alliance Insurance Company (MAIC) is a leading provider of physician professional liability insurance in Illinois.  MAIC provides coverage to Illinois hospital-employed physicians, contract emergency department groups, and any other physician on staff at an Illinois Provider Trust (IPT) hospital or self-insured hospital served by Illinois Risk Management Services (IRMS).

MAIC is an affiliate corporation of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA).  Claims management and risk management services are provided by IRMS staff who work with physicians to reduce risk, preserve professional integrity and reputation, prevent lawsuits, and improve quality of care.

Claims Management
MAIC's approach to managing claims is based upon a fair but firm philosophy.  Reported claims are promptly investigated, and if liability is determined, an attempt will be made to settle the claim.  If there is no merit to the claim, MAIC will vigorously defend the physician.

By averaging the cooperative efforts of hospitals and physicians for early claims intervention, MAIC can prevent conflict between plaintiff attorneys and defendants, reduce legal costs, and ultimately reduce premiums.
