Deborah B. Lyons, BSN, JD - Assistant Vice President, Claims
Deb is responsible for the management and supervision of the IRMS claims department. She has 30 years of experience handling medical malpractice litigation and claims in a variety of settings. Deb received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from DePauw University and worked as an RN in the Medical Intensive Care area at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She received her Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law and practiced law for fifteen years with a mid-sized Chicago insurance defense firm with a concentration in defense of hospitals, physicians, and allied health practictioners. Deb's experience in the medical malpractice claims arena includes as a Director, Major Case Liability for St. Paul Travelers and also as direct hospital risk management experience as Regional Risk Manager and Assistant Regional Director of Risk Management at Adventist Midwest Health. She received CPHRM designation and is a member of the Chicago Healthcare Risk Management Society and the Chicago Bar Association.
